Jeffrey Open Space Trail

History

The Jeffrey Open Space Trail is a recreation and open space corridor that will span Irvine's entire north-south length. It will travel approximately five miles through Irvine, from just past Portola Parkway in the north to the Quail Hill open space in the south. As it meanders along Jeffrey Road through the heart of Irvine, it will connect the city's network of parks, paths and wildlands.

At both ends, the trail will connect to regional trails leading deep into preserved wildlands on The Irvine Ranch®, serving as a link to the beautiful vast open space preservation areas north and south of the city.

The Jeffrey Open Space Trail is the product of extensive community input and consensus. During a series of community workshops, participants designed the centerpiece of the trail which stretches from I-5 to just past Portola Parkway.

Connecting via The Jeffrey Open Space Trail

The Jeffrey Open Space Trail will provide the long-envisioned link between parks and wildlands throughout the city's Open Space Preserve. It will connect the beautiful preserved open space on The Irvine Ranch that climb into the mountains north of the city and gently roll to the ocean south of it.

The Trail will provide connections to the following places:

  • North to Loma Ridge and Limestone, Round, Baker and Santiago canyons
  • East to The Great Park
  • The Venta Spur Trail
  • The Hicks Canyon Trail
  • South to Quail Hill - eventually connecting to Crystal Cove State Park and the Pacific Ocean
  • South along University Drive, leading to Upper Newport Bay
