Fostering Educational Excellence
People are drawn to the quality of life on The Irvine Ranch® for many reasons, but the opportunity to enroll their children in top schools is one of the biggest attractions for many who settle here for the long term. K-12 schools on The Ranch are consistently ranked among the best in the state and the nation.
Early in the planning process for every new community on The Ranch, The Irvine Company takes an active role in helping to create the best educational facilities possible, and the company works on an ongoing basis to foster excellence in these schools.
Over the years, The Irvine Company and the Donald Bren Foundation have invested more than $200 million supporting students, teachers, principals, individual schools, school districts, universities and university scholars.
This commitment to quality education dates back to the initial stages of planning for The Irvine Ranch. In the early 1960s, The Irvine Company contributed 1,000 acres of land to the University of California for the creation of the UC Irvine campus. The university was an integral part of the Irvine Ranch Master Plan's vision for the city of Irvine. And just as planners anticipated, UCI became a major economic engine for the city, as well as a center of enriching intellectual, cultural and recreational activities that could be enjoyed by the entire community.
